I was at work on day two and have nothing to report. Here’s what’s on my yule playlist.
For the harshness of winter:
For the midway mark:
For a good year and peace:
I don’t feel informed or articulate anymore, and I feel like an atrophied husk when I try to psych myself up to be helpful, or even just useful. I forgot how to be human because I was putting it off until I had the energy (and the funds, and the social and emotional safety) to be human. I forget where I got the energy.
Turns out some of it can come from letting myself enjoy “useless” things and re-train the metaphorical muscle.
Speaking of muscle:

I wish You a glad Jol/Jul! Reading Your post for the first day made Me realize that I royally screwed up doing My own personal Lunisolar calender, and so I’m now scrambling to put something together.

I wouldn’t say you screwed it up (let alone royally!), it took me a few years to get the rhythm. I have a moon phase app that I use as a cheat sheet (Daff Moon, which is freemium; the free version is fully functional, it just nags you to buy a subscription) to find the full moon *after* the new moon after the solstice/equinox. And the lunisolar dates run very “late” compared the Gregorian calendar right now. Sumardag/sigrblót is at the very end of April/beginning of May this year (Apr 30th—May 2nd), and midsummer is way at the end of July (28th—30th), for example. The holidays start creeping towards the middle of the Gregorian months in late 2026/early 2027 and then start coming “early” in 2028. Doing them *on* solstices and equinoxes is far easier when every other schedule runs on a Gregorian calendar, so it’s easy to see why people do that instead. It’s just not how it was done before Hákon the Good required that Jól be observed concurrently with Xmas so he could discreetly mark people down as *technically* doing the latter. So it’s not how I want to do it.
If it helps, my original plans had to be modified by the heavy snowfall so I am also scrambling. Hard to set things on fire when every source of fuel is under a foot of frozen snow 😅
